in memorium to identity

6:41 p.m. x 2002-10-20

i saw my therapist today, that was fun.

uh-huh...and now i'm gonna be philisophical, cause i'm in that *mood*.

when you are young - young like seventh grade and below - YOU ARE ANONYMOUS. no matter how much personality you have pent up in that little body of yours - YOU ARE ANONYMOUS. no presence, no identity, no nothing.

some of us stay anonymous. others don't. a popular form of pulling oneself out of anonymity is to associate themselves in/with a group. any group...a subculture, a religion, anything, but it is really just a step towards identity. it's still in its own way anonymity.

until you can see yourself as you and you alone and everything else becomes just an ingrediant and not the outcome,

YOU ARE ANONYMOUS.

you are not a goth, a skater, a prep, a nazi, a leader of a third world country etc. YOU ARE AN ASSEMBLY LINE PRODUCT UNTIL YOU HAVE AN IDENTITY THAT IS UNIQUE TO YOU. you need that phase of group-anonymity to develop your identity later, but stay in group anonymity and you'll never be anybody.

you'll die without an identity and no one will miss you. *blah blah blah* she says...

if anybody should ask i'm going to a seminar
pieces of the moon
JOBJOBJOB
interviewinterviewinterview
sensitive heart, you're doomed from the start
(& etc)

anybody can be just like me, obviously.
not too many can be like you, fortunately.
